In Texas Hold’em, a pair is a pair of two cards of equal rank. When two pairs compare, the highest pair wins. In other words, if you have J-J-2-2-4, you have a higher pair than someone with five-five-A-K-Q. If the pair is equal, the lower pair wins.
If you win, the cards you have in the pot are no longer in the deck. The exceptions are the Ace and 6 cards. These cards are not put back into the deck. This means that you have to think about how many cards you need to win the game and which cards will make you the winner.
